Another successful show for PURIGENEX Collagen

PURIGENEX was a hit at the American Anti-Aging Medicine (A4M) conference in Orlando April 25th-26th. The photo above are two doctors demoing the ICM mask. They were attending the conference to further their education in anti-aging medicine and to see all the new innovative treatments and products available to use in their clinics. Q: Can you use other facial products such as antioxidant serums, Vit. C creams, lipoic acid and oxygen formulas with the PURIGENEX collagen (ICM/ICS)?

A: Yes, you can apply any product after the ICM/ICS has completely dried and there is tension on you face (skin feels tight). Do not apply any type of acidic toner before applying the ICM/ICS. Use the ICM/ICS directly to clean dry skin.

Q: How soon can I apply PURIGENEX collagen to my face and chest after an IPL (Intense Pulse Light) treatment?

A: Apply the ICM mask the next day to relieve inflammation and to start the healing process. The collagen serum is to be used morning and night. 1/2 dropperful is plenty for face and neck.

Individuals have experienced less redness and itching by using the ICM/ICS soon after the IPL therapy. (please read testimonial section on IPL patient)

Q: Can we use Iontophoresis Therapy to drive the collagen deeper into the skin?

A: It is unnecessary to use iontophoresis therapy due to the fact that our succinylated collagen is already negatively ionized and will be absorbed into the dermal layer as long as it is in the refrigerated form (bio-active state).

Atelocollagen

Collagen is nature’s most abundant protein polymer. It has a triple helical polypeptide structure with antigenic formations called “telopeptides” at each end of the molecule. Telopeptides are the major cause of immune reactions to proteins, because they are unique to each individual. Consequently, general collagen can cause an allergic response or rejection in up to 20% of treatments.

In atelocollagen, the telopeptides are removed from a Type I collagen molecule, creating a far more viable, non-immunogenic form of the protein. Furthermore, atelocollagen is much higher in density than general collagen; so, it is easily absorbed into the skin.
PURIGENEX’s atelocollagen was originally developed by distinguished researchers as a medical grade raw material for tissue regeneration. Now it has been adapted for transdermal cosmetic use, providing the most highly purified, safe, bio-compatible collagen available with rare to no side effects.

Negatively Ionized Collagen

Type I collagen is typically dissolved in an acid solution of less than pH 4.0. This creates many restrictions forcollagen used as a cosmetic material, which requireslow acidity (pH 5.5 – pH 6.5).
Our researchers have developed a proprietary methodfor overcoming collagen’s acidity and improving itssolubility factor for increased penetration into the skin.They enhanced the hydrophilic properties of Type Iatelocollagen through succinylation, deriving a negativeionization of the molecule.

Normal skin has a negative ionic charge, while thecellular membrane of aged skin develops an increasedpositive ionic charge. Improved osmosis ofPURIGENEX collagen is achieved when negativelyionized collagen creates an electrostatic interactionwith the skin. In this way, absorbed negatively ionizedcollagen penetrates deep into the dermal and basaltissue, increasing proliferation of the body’s own collagen, and helping to activate dermal cell regeneration.
As compared to PURIGENEX collagen, general collagen is not easily absorbed into the skin by topical application. This is due to its larger molecular size and lack of negative ionic charge. Most collagen cosmetics are only able to form oil membranes in the outer dermal layer of the skin, whereas our negatively ionized atelocollagen deeply assimilates into the skin.

Inactive, or resolved, collagen has beenfound to inhibit the function of surroundingcells when applied to the skin. In contact with this material, the skin cells’ ability to compound collagen is decreased. This can lead to deeper wrinkles and decreased skin elasticity. Accordingly, collagen preparations for the skin should be produced and supplied at cold temperatures. ICS and ICM are formulated with purified porcine-source atelocollagen atcold temperatures, and should be kept in refrigeration at 39-50ºF.

What is Collagen?

Collagen is nature’s most abundant protein polymer. It is made up of three polypeptide strands, creating a left handed triple helical structure. More than a third of the human body’s protein is collagen. Collagen makes up 75% of our skin.

Why is animal collagen different from plant collagen?

Collagens can be classified as being of animal or plant origin. Animal collagen is extracted from bovine and porcine bone or skin. Plant collagen is made by modifying polysaccharides (natto gum) through fermentation of yeast. Plant collagens used in cosmetics are heated and denatured simple proteins in the form of gelatins, which may exist at room temperature. They are biologically inactive. True active collagen must retain its molecular integrity at cold temperatures to be able to impact cell function. Refrigerated animal source collagen is the most viable therapeutic collagen with all of its properties intact. This makes it a superior product to plant collagen. PURIGENEX products always use safe porcine-animal source collagen, to ensure superior bioactivity.

What is the difference between atelocollagen and collagen?

In a Type I collagen molecule, there are antigenic formations called “telopeptides” at each end of the protein. A telopeptide extremity in a collagen molecule consists of about 12-27 amino acids. The peptide sequence in a telopeptide is unique to each individual; and, complete removal of the peptide is necessary to avoid an immune reaction. Atelocollagen is a telopeptide-free collagen that is non-immunogenic. An atelocollagen molecule has a complete triple helical alpha-chain structure consisting of about 1010 amino acids.

Why should collagen be stored at a low temperature?

Collagen is easily denatured at high to room temperatures because the triple helical structure of the collagen protein reacts to heat and degenerates. This produces inactive gelatin. Refrigerating collagen at a low temperature assures the biological activity of the product, prevents resolution (denaturing), and protects the stability of our formulas.

Can I use collagen products if they are past their expiration date?

Some researchers have found that expired collagen does not interfere with their specific experiments, or with the efficacy of a commercial collagen product. However, expired products may not perform as described, and we do not encourage you to use them.
Is this product sterile?

PURIGENEX products are supplied in sterile sealed bottles and vials. Once the seal on the bottle or vial is opened, it is no longer sterile and must be used in a timely fashion. Refrigeration will help inhibit any microbial growth.

Can I use UV light to sterilize the collagen formulas?

These products should not be exposed to UV light, heat, or ionizing radiation. Exposure to these conditions will modify the collagen, causing irreversible degeneration.
Can I freeze PURIGENEX collagen products?

Freezing is not recommended for these products as it may damage the collagen.
Do you sell Type II, III, IV, or other collagen products?

PURIGENEX products are only made with Type I atelocollagen. Our researchers do not routinely manufacture or develop other types of collagen.
